About Us...

The Golden East Society for Human Resource Management was founded under the name Eastern North Carolina Personnel Association.  In January 2002, our association became an affiliate of the national HR organization, Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).  While its name has changed over the years, Golden East SHRM continues to serve as the leading association for eastern North Carolina HR managers and professionals.

Golden East SHRM supports the community in a number of ways.  In 2005, we awarded an academic scholarship to an HR major at Barton College, contributed to the local Red Cross chapter, and sponsored a Job Shadow Day through Rocky Mount Schools Apprenticeship Program.

For the past three years, GE-SHRM has earned SHRM's Superior Merit Award distinction.  In September 2003, the North Carolina SHRM State Council presented GE-SHRM with the Outstanding Small Chapter Award for North Carolina.
